First Week of my Internship

**This blog will, for the next 6 weeks become my journal of my experience at my internship**

I began my internship on the 6th of January at Lascivious. Lascivious are a luxury lingerie brand, which supports UK manufacture and also have a global reach by retailing in famous stores such as Selfirdges and Harrods, and many other luxury lingerie boutiques around the world. I had a good knowledge of the brand before applying and have been a fan of their work for some time, so I was really excited to work for them! Lascivious' designs are innovative, sexy and experimental, all whilst also being utterly indulgent.

The studio is based in Walton-on-Thames, where the majority of the work takes place, from the packing of orders to the sampling of designs. I begin at 9am and finish at 5.15pm, 5 days a week. On the first day when I arrived I met Chloe Hamblen who is the director of the brand, who founded it in 2004. Chloe started Lascivious from her own bedroom, so seeing what it has become is incredibly impressive! The design is very stylised and Lascivious as a whole in very well-branded. I also met Yasmin, who is Head of Sales.

On the first day I was initially asked to look through this years collections. Luckily, I am already quite familiar with their "Classics" collection, but getting to see their new designs was really exciting. I was taught how to package orders, gift wrap and also where to find everything. Most of the first day I was getting to grips with this area of work, mostly helping Yasmin with sales. It's also my responsibility at the end of the day to take the UK parcels to the post office for sending.

For the rest of the week I have been continuing to pull orders, whilst also quality checking garments, tracing patterns, pulling press samples and generally learning about the lingerie industry. It's been a really great experience so far, I feel that I've already learnt so much. To me it seems that the lingerie industry is a lot smaller than the fashion industry, but everybody has a closer knit. I have also learnt about some exciting projects coming up for the brand, which I cannot disclose for obvious reasons! However I think they will really help to bring the brand into the light for many more people and will be excellent press. Later on in the week I also met Lisa and Jess, who help to design and also sample the designs in house, and they are in charge of the fabric orders and communicate with the manufacturer.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the next few weeks bring already!
