Bailey's Stardust @ The National Portrait Gallery

David Bailey - he put the sex into photography. The inspiration behind the film Blow-Up, he made photography cool and fashionable, he's something Terry Richardson wishes he was. Known for being Vogue's photographer in the 60s and lover to Jean Shrimpton and husband to Catherine Deneuve, he is still regarded as one of the best photographers of all time.

Next years must-see event is his exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, running from the 6th of February until the 1st of June. The exhibition will showcase over 250 images, personally selected by Bailey and will show the extraordinary range of subjects he has captured.

My particular favourites from Bailey are his captures of the beauties from the 60s, including Jean Shrimpton, Sue Murray and Brigitte Bardot. His images are so timeless, captured mostly in black and white, it's difficult to tell when they were taken. This is most likely the reasoning behind the fact why he is still so admired as a photographer today.

Needless to say, I will certainly be going to the exhibition when it opens and I will surely draw some fashion inspiration by those who Bailey has captured for all time.
