"Once Upon a Time..." by Karl Lagerfeld

It's hard to imagine that ladies really thought "How awful!" and "She has no taste" about Chanel - but this film gives a true representation of the heritage of the iconic brand and style icon. This really puts into perspective how far Chanel has come from a small shop in Paris to a worldwide brand, known to everybody. The film shows Gabrielle's hat shop gaining momentum, more and more customers flood to her shop to try her hats. The visuals are very lovely and so is the styling, however...

The very obvious British accents are quite distracting, the acting isn't very good either. It feels jumbled and amateurish. This is really another example of why Karl needs to stick to his day job (even that is becoming barely tolerable, as Chanel gets more and more boring - sorry Karl, it's not working for me). As always Lindsey Wixson is beautiful and so striking, but her appearance was ruined by the brash American Accent... I can't help but feel there could have been much more done with this film. I feel it would have even worked better as a silent film only with music, or simply as a photoshoot. There needs to have been a better way of transitioning between time frames, as they all merged into one long and dull "movie".
