LFW SS14

London Fashion Week this year will be running from September 13th until the 17th, and will showcase the spring/summer 2014 collections. This year, the British Fashion Council has announced nine of London's greatest up and coming designers who will be sponsored to have their spot in Fashion Week. The designer support initiative is called NEWGEN, which is currently sponsored by Topshop and is one of the worlds most internationally recognised talent identification schemes.

These are the lucky designers who have been picked to be sponsored this year:

Catwalk Sponsorship

J. JS Lee

AW2013

J. JS Lee is all about minimalist, modern and chic tailoring. Her recent collections show a lot of white and pastel hues, a hugely coveted trend this season. She was born in Korea and studied womenswear and pattern cutting at Central Saint Martins. She describes her ideal client as feminine and unique.

Lucas Nascimento

SS2013
Brazillian designer Lucas Nascimento prides himself on taking a different view on knitwear, and creating silhouettes not usually associated with it. It is knitwear with a twist, geometric and textural. He graduated in 2008 from London College of Fashion and has showcased his work at Rio Fashion Week for the last three seasons.

Marques ' Almeida

SS2012

Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida met at CITEX school of Fashion in Portugal, and graduated in 2007, then both went on to study the acclaimed Fashion MA at Central St Martins. They draw inspiration from street-wear, creating a relaxed vibe which looks lived-in and distressed.

Simone Rocha

AW2013
Simone Rocha is a designer that has been on my personal radar for some time, after I had seen her signature piece, the brogue which seems to float on perspex. She studied at National College of Art and Design in Dublin and went on to do an MA at Central St Martins. Her style is modern yet romantic.

Sister by Sibling

SS2013
The weird and wonderful Sister by Sibling is a compilation of designers Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery, who all come from different backgrounds. The brand is very focussed on knitwear and has a very unique, individual and fun take on classic traditional knitwear.

Presentation Sponsorship

1205

AW2012

1205 was begun by Paula Gerbase who studied womenswear at Central Saint Martins and trained in the womenswear atelier of Hardy Amies, of which followed 5 years as Head Designer for Saville Row tailor, Kilgour. Her pieces are an androgynous take on tailoring, with thoughtful consideration on cuts and fabric.

Nasir Mazhar

AW2013
Nasir Mazar is a self-taught London-based designer who has worked for theatrical designer Mark Wheeler and trained with Jane Smith. He is best known for his inventive headwear, particularly inspired by sports, raves and London street fashion.

Sophia Webster

AW2013

Shoe designer Sophia Webster studied at the Royal College of Art and Cordwainers, followed by working alongside Nicholas Kirkwood. Her designs are strong and feminine, yet very fun with nods towards 90s culture and children's toys such as Clueless and My Little Pony.

Exhibition Sponsorship

Liam Fahy

SS2013

Whilst studying footwear at DeMontfort University, Liam won the Linea-Pelle footwear design award, and the Drapers Footwear Designer of the Year award. After graduating in 2006, he won the first ever Fashion Fringe Accessory Award in 2008, judged by Manolo Blahnik, Colin McDowell and Rupert Sanderson. His designs are sexy and sophisticated.
