Moschino X Jeremy Scott

The latest news on the block is that outlandish designer Jeremy Scott has been named the new creative director of Moschino, announced last night. His first collection will be showcased in February at Milan Fashion week, an event which will be eagerly awaited by those loyal to Moschino and fans of Jeremy Scott's own line. He is taking over from Rossella Jardini, who has led Moschino since it's original founder, Franco Moschino, died in 1994.

Moschino's website states "This appointment respects the DNA of the brand as Jeremy Scott represents not only an eclectic and contemporary communicator but most of all a designer capable of re-interpreting the identity and the essence of Moschino."

Jeremy Scott is known for his pop-culture inspired and attention-demanding designs, having run his own brand since 1997. He has said about Moschino that "It's one of the few houses that has humour, and it's the same thing for me... We share an obsession with poking fun at fashion." He is yet to set firm goals for the brand, but wants to bring the brand "into the now", including the brand's heritage but also aiming for a younger audience.
